This page shows some more recent events in the Circle's history.
Evening walks to local places with railway interest have long been a feature of the programme. The photograph shown here is
of a walk along the trackbed of the Somerset and Dorset near Midford. Members pose in what was the small goods yard
on the Bath side of the station. Another event was the Summer BBQ in Len Challis's garden in Sea Mills Lane. Sadly Len,
a former president of the Circle, died recently aged 96 having moved back to the Cambridge area some years ago to be with
his family. The bottom two photographs were taken on the West Somerset Railway. That on the bottom left was taken in
Crowcombe signal box shortly after the completion of the resignalling in 1994. Circle secretary and WSR S&T volunteer
worker, Richard Harman, explains the workings of the box to interested members. The photograph on the bottom left
shows members standing on the platform at Bishops Lydeard in April 2007 following a very successful day out on the "Quantock
Belle" which is the West Somerset Railway's very popular dining car train.
